4 Tips to clean makeup brushes like a pro

Makeup brushes feel so soft and plush when they are new. But over time, the wear and tear can change your opinion. The thing about good quality brushes, is that they are capable of turning ordinary makeup into something truly special.

So, it’s important to take care of these brushes, but how do you do that?

We present to you our top tips for keeping your brushes usable without any break or tear:

1. Clean them on a regular basis:

We are going to keep it simple for you- Clean them monthly. Wash them at night before you go to bed, so they have a better chance of being dry before you use them again. While doing so make sure you dry them flat. If you dry them standing up, water is going to seep into the brushes and eventually your brushes can lose their hair.

2. Grab a bar of soap:

No need to invest in those special makeup cleansers. Just take a bar of old unscented soap or baby shampoo and then just clean it.

  • Get your brush completely wet using lukewarm water.
  • Once the brush is saturated, swirl your brush onto a bar of soap until it lathers. Fair warning: It can gross you out when you see all of the makeup colors coming out of the brushes.
  • Once you know for sure that all the makeup, oils and the dirt have been removed, now ensure all of the shampoo or soap is also removed.
  • Once everything is done, give your brush a gentle squeeze to remove excess water and leave to dry it flat on a clean towel.

3. Don’t forget the handles:

Clean the handles with a soapy cloth or use a bit of rubbing alcohol. This way you can clean and disinfect in one quick step.

4. Condition your brushes:

If you notice that your brushes are feeling a bit stiff over time, try massaging a tiny bit of hair conditioner into the bristles and finally rinse in warm water. Last but not the least, dry them flat.

With these tips by your side, you will realize that you can keep your brushes far longer than you actually anticipated.

Nothing beats a natural flair in any form of Art.
